We are humans who see clearly the barbarity of all ages except our own. - Ernest Crosby, Author, Reformer (1856 - 1907)

It is because we have at the present moment everybody claiming the right of conscience without going through any discipline whatsoever that there is so much untruth being delivered to a bewildered world. - Mohandas K. Gandhi, The Words of Gandhi, ca 1930

Veg Wisdom

The thinking person must oppose all cruel customs, no matter how deeply rooted in tradition and surrounded by a halo. When we have a choice, we must avoid bringing torment and injury into the life of another. - Albert Schweitzer Albert_Schweitzer_142x192 (5K)

Veg Wisdom

Life is life's greatest gift. Guard the life of another creature as you would your own because it is your own. On life's scale of values, the smallest is no less precious to the creature who owns it than the largest ... - Dr. Lloyd Biggle Jr., Musician, Author, Historian (1923 - 2002)

Veg Wisdom

Children trained to extend justice, kindness, and mercy to animals become more just, kind, and considerate in their relations to each other. Character training along these lines will result in men and women of broader sympathies; more humane, more law-abiding, in every respect more valuable citizens. - National PTA Congress

Veg Wisdom

Nothing living should ever be treated with contempt. Whatever is it that lives, a man, a tree, or a bird, should be touched gently, because the time is short. - Elizabeth Goudge (1900-1984), The Joy of Snow

Veg Wisdom

History shows us that the people who end up changing the world – the great political, social, scientific, technological, artistic, even sports revolutionaries – are always nuts, until they are right, and then they are geniuses.
- John Eliot

Veg Wisdom

Compassion respects all forms of life and recognizes the right of each to fulfill its own purpose. - C. David Coats, Old MacDonald's Factory Farm

So many problems of our society are due to misinformation, and many vested interests are spending billions to keep us misinformed! With so much misinformation, one cannot help but make destructive decisions. Only when we know all our choices, and their ramifications, can we reverse the harmful course that we unknowingly chart for ourselves, our children---and our world.

EVEN serves as a resource providing information about the benefits of a plant-based diet, helping to connect inquiring people to an informed answer. The right information in the hands of caring people lets them make compassionate, intelligent and informed choices for themselves, the animals, and the planet.

EVEN is not the "food police", nor do we want to be. We do not tell anyone what to eat; we show where food comes from---and the impact of our choices!

leaf Each of us, by our own choices and through the example of our own lives, can make the world better or worse.

Each day the choice is ours.

What do we choose?

Name Your Claim

I always have to chuckle at the inevitable disclaimer, "talk to your health adviser before making any major dietary change." Right. How many people in the general public call their doctors at 7 p.m. and say, "Hey, Doc, I'm going to order a jumbo pizza with all the toppings and the stuffed crust tonight. Then I'm going to eat the whole thing, wash it down with a six-pack of Coke/beer, and watch TV all night. Is that OK??" Maybe the pizza ads should have a disclaimer on them as well, something like, be sure to check with your health provider about the wisdom of eating a diet high in saturated fats, calories, cholesterol, salt, and watching TV all night so you'd see this ad in the first place! - Sue Aberle, MS, RD
