Since recent academic and U.N. studies have shown eating animals is a greater contributor to greenhouse gases than your means of transportation, now is the perfect time to learn more about reducing your carbon footprint with improvements to your diet. For more information on eco-eating, see Dr. Brook's web site www.brook.com/veg or read his recent article in E-The Environmental Magazine www.emagazine.com/view/?3312 entitled Another Inconvenient Truth: Meat is a Global Warming Issue. Because it is designed to support the whole body, you actually feel good on the cleanse. It was designed so that everyone could do it. May 24, 2007 - 6:30 - 9pm, First United Methodist Church, 13th & Olive - Eat Here Now, Local Food Networking Banquet

On behalf of the folks at the Willamette Farm and Food Coalition and Helios Resource Network, you are invited to the first (of what we hope are many) informal networking event for local food organizations, farmers, and pro-local food businesses. (Sliding scale entrance fee to cover costs, $5-$10)

This will be an evening of good food and educative entertainment. We will view a few delightful film shorts; enjoy food for thought from local speakers; learn about the issues and efforts of our fellow organizations, farmers and food businesses; and spend time connecting with each other over a delicious meal of local foods.

Our intentions in hosting this event are toward strengthening our food community, harnessing the public’s awareness of food related issues, and fostering the viability and sustainability of our local food resources.

Call 541-341-1216 or e-mail: info@lanefood.org

The Willamette Farm and Food Coalition believes that a strong local food system contributes to the integral health of our entire community, and works to facilitate greater understanding of the economic, social and environmental impacts of our food choices. The Helios Resource Network believes it is imperative to create living economies based on living democracy, with both the producers and consumers shaping their food cultures through participation and partnerships, through cooperation and caring.

NOTE: EVEN was told that vegan food would be available.
